Measurements and modeling in the clinic

Course

Description

Clinical measurements are crucial in diagnostics and intervention planning. However, it is not trivial to perform accurate measurements due to biological variability and available modalities. A medical engineer can be of great value, using engineering skills such as quantitative measurements, estimation of errors, reproducibility and model-based data analysis, to extract more information from the data. Patient-specific models and novel measurement techniques will eventually predict intervention outcome or disease progression.
