Mathematical statistics

Statistics concerns what can be learned from data, and comprises a body of methods for data collection and analysis across the whole range of science, and in areas such as engineering, medicine, business, and law. In this course the emphasis is given to statistical inference, paying close attention to its theoretical underpinnings. Nevertheless the course will also cover many applied matters and put the students in contact with situations where inferences about real data must be done
