In the course introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) it is taught how industrial can be solved numerically by means of CFD. Through practice sessions the trainee learns to implement flow problems in a CFD computer program. The knowledge and skills of the student are tested through an assignment. Below a list of topics is given.
- Introduction to Partial Differential Equations (PDE’s), Elliptic equations
Tutorial stationary two-dimensional heat conduction in a solid object
Tutorial stationary two-dimensional heat conduction in an infinitely stretched solid wall
- Parabolic equations
Tutorial non-stationary diffusion and reaction in a porous membrane
Tutorial non-stationary absorption in a packed bed
Tutorial tubular reactor with axial dispersion
