Hybrid quantum computing

Course

Description

This Master course aims to teach students about the recent developments in hybrid quantum computation. It will start from the basics of quantum computing, go through the physics of one of the most promising platforms for scalable quantum computing: a Rydberg atom platform for quantum computing and quantum simulation. With excitation ground-state atomic qubits to Rydberg states, a strong long-range coupling can be realised, giving rise to multi-qubit entanglement. This platform is very suitable for the execution of specific tasks such as hybrid algorithms for quantum chemical problems. The students will learn that the nature of the specific hardware is very important in the design of the quantum algorithms that will run on these devices. Simulations of the quantum gates and interactions will be performed.
