Students learn about principles for the design and improvement of machines and instruments where positioning is involved. The statically determined design approach suits a preparation for, or exploration into a design graduation project. In Analysis of Production Systems methods and tools are presented to address questions such as: How to increase throughput? How to decrease flow times? This requires skills in modeling, analysis and simulation. Elementary concepts and models from probability theory are treated, since logistical performance of production systems heavily depends on uncertainty in order release, process times and machine failures.
