Description

How do designs mediate our relationship with the world? How are these designs shaped by their historical context? How do designs shape power dynamics? How is aesthetics shaped by practices? What does this mean for the creative process of design? And what does that mean for our responsibility towards future generations? As designers, we create many new designs, but are we aware of the societal interwovenness and consequences of our designs? Designs are shaping, perpetuating, and changing ways of living over time. They exist in a reciprocal relationship with the practices of which they are a part. In this course, you’ll explore, visualize and discuss these relations, using various theories that thematize this reciprocal process.
