Description

This course will be taught for the last time in 2024/2025. This course will be replaced by 6CBL01

The project consists of a combination of literature research and experimental research. The themes of the projects are selected from research in the research groups in the cluster ‘molecular systems and materials chemistry’.

Conditions for admission

Admission to the study component 6E6X0 Molecules and materials is only possible after  obtaining a minimum grade 5.5 for the safety assessment belonging to the 6A1X0 Practical Introduction to chemistry and chemical technology

Extra information about the assessment
The peer review is required to pass this unit of study but does not count toward the overall final grade.
- Students pass a study component by scoring a 6 or higher on the examination. To pass the examination, the final test must be graded with at least a 5.0 and the weighted average must be at least 5.5.

Objectives

a) Learning objectives and acquired competences

The student is introduced to functional molecules and materials. Within the selected themes, the student learns the key requirements of the synthetic compounds and / or materials. The student further develops experimental skills in the field of synthetic, analytical, molecular and materials chemistry.

b) non subject-related competences

The student learns to translate the research question into a concrete plan for experimental work. The student is able to clearly describe the results of the experiments in the format of a scientific report and a poster. Student learns to wok in a research team.
