Clinical measurements are often non invasive, indirect and subject to measurement errors. Engineers play an important role in the development of measurement techniques and the interpretation of the clinical data, accounting for the reliability of the data. This challenge is the central theme of this project, in which the state of the vessel wall is characterised through three different experiments. The reliability of the result of the three experiments is quantified. In line with common engineering practice, the methods are first applied to a phantom, a technical laboratory vessel model, and subsequently to the carotid artery of a slaughterhouse pig.
