System-wide design of layout and control structures in manufacturing systems is a challenging task, but very important for correct assessment of performance criteria such a throughput and flowtime. In this course students use both analytical (Queueing Theory) methods and Discrete-Event Simulation to evaluate performance of manufacturing systems.
