This course teaches you how to design behavioral research. The course introduces you to the full cycle of empirical psychological research. The cycle starts with a research question. For instance, how do users experience a built environment? Or what is the effect of the accuracy of a recommender system on trust in that system? The course teaches you to design psychological research to collect data to answer such questions. The course emphasizes a “learning by doing” approach to allow you to apply knowledge to real research problems. The first assignment involves the design and implementation of a qualitative interview study. To prepare you for this study, you will be trained in conducting a professional research interview under the supervision of a professional trainer. You will tackle a real-world problem in a second group assignment by designing a quantitative study.
