Objectives

After completing this course the student is able to:

1.  Explain the techniques employed in characterizing chemical molecules and the systematic approach used for molecular characterization.
2.  Interpret analytical data obtained by NMR, optical techniques, mass spectrometry and chromatography.
3.  Describe the principles on which NMR, optical techniques, mass spectrometry and chromatography are based.
4. Identify the possibilities and limitations of NMR, optical techniques, mass spectrometry and chromotography
5. Draw up an analysis plan combining different characterization techniques to answer a research question related to molecular characterization
