Aesthetics of interaction

Course

Description

In traditional design, aesthetics mainly considered the appearance of a product, which was designed to look beautiful. But, as the products and systems we interact with incorporate more technology, this requires a consideration of the aesthetics of interaction too. This course introduces students to design methods, interaction models and research that consider the aesthetics of interaction and students learn to apply these methods, models and insights in the design of an interactive system. Consequently, students will develop an awareness and understanding of the factors that influence the aesthetics of interaction, and the interplay between bodily skills and the expressive capabilities of physical objects through design
