Everybody, on the streets!

Press/Media: Expert Comment

Description

Article for the Belgian (Flemish) newspaper De Standaard. The poor political reactions to the scandal of the massive PFOS-contamination in Antwerp lead to a kind of 'parliamentification'. Just as parentification causes harm to children, for having had to take up the responsibilities of their failing fathers, so civilians run the risk of having to take up too much political responsibility when their elected representatives fail in doing so.
