Article for the Belgian (Flemish) newspaper De Standaard. Short reflection on a gruesome sex delinquency case in Belgium involving youngsters. Human beings are obviously capable of terrible things. When they happen, we tend to look for specific explanations. And even though they might be there, still there is the overarching fact that we tend to forget that 'common decency' requires a lot of work, for which we can use all the available societal, cultural and political help.
