    THE OPINION OF THE EXPERTS
University of Trieste - Harmonized regulations, but clearly improveable
One of the issues that is most talked about in relation to artificial intelligence (AI) is the limitation that must exist.
Regarding this issue, Chiara Gallese, a researcher in the department of mathematics and geosciences of the University of Trieste, affirms that the European Union's proposed regulation is "important because it provides for the first time mandatory harmonized provisions to regulate this type of system. It is a great opportunity to protect the rights of citizens and establish clear rules at the European level."
Gallese points out that it is positive to have horizontal legislation, and it is an important step to protect society from disruptive technologies, "but there should be different sectoral legislation to regulate more complicated sectors such as health care and clinical trials."
