Innovative methods to evaluate the dynamics of UX
UX is a « continuous stream ». It is highly dynamic and varies ceaselessly across time. One of the main challenges in user research is thus to assess the dynamics of experiences, rather than focusing on a single time span only. While a user testing session or an online questionnaire allows to evaluate momentary UX, it does not inform us on how meaningful experiences are in the long run and which factors affect specific dimensions of someone’s experience over time. As systems and products are more and more embedded into services, the stakes are high to assess long-term UX. Yet this is a challenging endeavour and longitudinal methods such as diary studies are usually too expensive and hard to implement.
What about being able to assess 6 months, or even a year, of product use in less than 90 minutes? What about being able to identify the critical factors impacting UX over time, in order to better design for the dynamics of experiences?
During this session, you will discover the ever‐growing UX toolbox developed in Academia, which can greatly support you in collecting richer, insightful and more reliable data. The workshop will focus on retrospective assessment methods, useful for studying long-term UX and for revealing which experiences matter over time.
A more dynamic assessment of experiences will allow you to better understand users’ journeys, deliver great experiences and stand out from the crowd. Adding new methods to your toolkit will boost the UX of your upcoming projects!
