Description
Driven by societal challenges related to global warming and energy security, automotive industry faces enormous challenges to simultaneously meet legislative limits for real-world pollutants and for CO2 emissions. Besides vehicle and logistic measures, focus is on engine efficiency and transition towards sustainable fuels. This presentation concentrates on an efficient, advanced combustion concept: Reactivity Controlled Compression Ignition (RCCI). This dual fuel combustion concept allows to combine a wide range of low-carbon, bio- and sustainable fuels. For the combination of Diesel and Natural Gas, experimental results are presented that illustrate its potential: operation over full load range and combination of diesel-like efficiencies with engine-out Euro-VI emissions.Period | 8 Jun 2017 |
