Description

Embarking on the journey to becoming an architect is an exhilarating endeavor, but what lies beyond the academic corridors? The lecture series, "How to Become an Architect," curated by CASA Vertigo in collaboration with Archined, invites you to explore the enigmatic path post-graduation. Delving into the intricacies of professional development, this six-part public programme presents a rare glimpse into the transitional phase where creativity and real-world challenges converge.

Attempting to traverse the hazy post-graduation landscape, the series dares to ask: What do you do after graduating? How do you really/actually become an architect? What does the dynamic landscape of professional growth entail? And how do you navigate it? Through a captivating blend of personal narratives and professional insights, early career practitioners will share their stories, unveiling the multifaceted journey that unfolds after university life. From forging new design philosophies to establishing resilient networks within the industry, the speakers will delve into the intricacies of shaping their architectural practice. Each lecture invites architects and spatial practitioners who have successfully navigated the transitional phase to reflect upon the challenges, strategies and triumphs of that shaped their creative trajectory.

The series extends beyond the lectures, embracing two additional engaging events. The first, an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session, ushers in recent architecture school graduates to create a platform for candid exchanges about the transition from academia to the professional realm. Here, the contours of aspirations and apprehensions are sketched with honesty and vulnerability. The second event, a rendezvous with Stimuleringsfonds for Creative Industries, provides a compass for navigating the landscape of funding and grants for emerging practitioners. This discussion on financial sustenance aims to provide essential insights into the pragmatic, yet vital aspects of financially maintaining an architectural practice during its initial stages of development.
